The School of Leadership experience is not just about being fed spiritually by the lecturers or physically with yummy food, coupled with fun and laughter, but it is also about the Lord building relationships. These relationships He is building are not just with Him, but also with His people.

SOL students come from various nations: Australia, China, Myanmar, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, including Singapore giving the class an international flavour. In addition, the SOL faculty comprise of lecturers from various parts of the world: USA, England, India, Israel, Australia, Africa, Malaysia and, of course, Singapore. At SOL, there are many opportunities for students to relate closely with both students and lecturers from different nations and cultures.

One of the most treasured times during the SOL term is the chapel service.  Every morning, the worship and devotions are conducted by the students. Not only is the chapel service an avenue for students to develop their worship leading and preaching skills, daily devotions prepared and shared by each student is always precious and encouraging. It enables students to understand one another better, having heard from their different experiences, relationships are built on a deeper level.

The experience of people from different nations, languages, and races gathering together to worship the Lord daily in chapel also gives students a foretaste of what worship will be like in heaven.

One student who stayed in the hostel recounted her experience of community living, “The fact that some of the students come from different nationalities helped to mould me culturally and socially. Living in the hostel, I was able to experience the “true culture” of different countries. Although there were times of misunderstanding and miscommunication due to language barrier, we were able to resolve issues and learn to appreciate one another’s culture through clarification and discussion. Community living in this situation enabled me to embrace different cultures and practices. God was working out the rough edges in our lives, developing and shaping our character.”

During the term, enjoyable activities in the classroom, such as “Angel and Mortal” game and class outings serve to encourage interaction and bonding within the class. Apart from classroom time, there will be periods of time set aside for corporate prayer as a class and prayer partners, to seek the face of God.

We have seen God knit the Body of Christ together regardless of race, nationality, and age in each SOL class. He is a Master Builder of relationships. There is such beauty in godly diversity and God has indeed put each class together for a season.  Each student has a unique part to play in this family. The friendships formed at SOL testify to the kinship we have in Christ and, as iron sharpens iron, life will never be the same for you.

We encourage every SOL student to participate and contribute to the vibrant student body life during these five months at the School of Leadership and it will definitely be an enriching experience for you.
